Suez Canal Security Alert: Houthi Threats Resulted in Rerouting of 100+ Container Ships

Over 100 container ships are now taking alternative routes around southern Africa to bypass the Suez Canal. The attacks carried out by Yemen's Houthi in the southern Red Sea have led several shipping companies to reroute ships, avoiding the Suez Canal in the north and its connection to the Mediterranean Sea. This rerouting increases both cost and time for shipping journeys, resulting in a spike in oil prices and war risk insurance premiums.
